• Who’s going to do it?

  • Keep steadily before you the fact that all true success depends at last upon yourself.
    Theodore T. Hunger

Have you ever just kind of sat back and hoped that doors would open for you? I have. There have been times when I thought to myself: Well, I’ll just hope for the best or I have done all I can or God will do it for me. Then I realize – wait a minute. God has given me a brain. God has given me physical and mental skills. God has given me relationships. God has given me ideas. God has given me and you everything we need to succeed. The book of Nehemiah in the Bible contains a fantastic story about the people of Jerusalem who were in despair because the walls of the city were destroyed. Nehemiah asked King Artaxerxes of Persia if he could leave and return to Jerusalem to rebuild it. “And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.” Neh 2:8 So Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem and shared his plan to rebuild the walls. The people were inspired. “So we built the wall…for the people had a mind to work” Neh 4:6 They completed the task in record time. “So the wall was finished…in fifty-two days. And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid…for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.” Neh 6:15,16 Would God have built the wall for them supernaturally if the people just stayed home? I doubt it. Our works go hand in hand with our faith. James 2:18 says ” Show me your faith apart from your works and I will show you my faith by my works.” Moses still had to stretch his staff over the Red Sea. David still had to put a rock in his sling and throw it at Goliath. The people of Jerusalem still had to go out and work on that wall. All of them could have made excuses about how it is not going to work and maybe just sat back hoping that God would do something for them. They could have waited for some magical door to open. Maybe they could have waited for their ship to come in. I like what Dani Johnson (Secret Millionaire) says, “Excuses are well planned lies.” So in your life, Who’s going to do it?
