2) Who is teaching the classes and what is their teaching style? Does he teach in a positive uplifting encouraging manner or is it more militaristic and aggressive? Is he respectful to you or do you feel that he doesn’t value your opinion? Would you or your child feel comfortable with this person as your instructor? What is your first impression about the instructor(s)? You want to make sure that the instructor will teach in a way that will build your child up instead of tear them down. When correcting mistakes, it should be done in a way that is respectful to the student, not degrading or embarrassing. A martial arts instructor is someone who may become an important figure in a child’s life. Make sure it is someone that you feel you can trust.
