Our instructors are internationally ranked and study directly under David Rogers Sensei(7th-Dan), Kyoshi Nabil Noujaim(8th-Dan), the late Hanshi Judan Shugoro Nakazato, and our current president of The Shorinkan Association- Hanshi Judan Minoru Nakazato Sensei. Jim Wick Sensei travels to Naha, Okinawa annually for training at the Humbo Dojo directly under Nakazato Sensei. Jim Sensei, Alan Sensei and other senior instructors and students travel to the Cal South International Martial Arts Camp Annually for additional training. The Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Organization is an internationally recognized and highly respected style practiced under the direct supervision of Hanshi Judan Minoru Nakazato Sensei.

Jim Wick Sensei is the Head Instructor at Shorinkan Family Karate in Cañon City, Colorado. Jim Sensei currently holds the rank of 2nd Dan as awarded by Hanshi Judan Shugoro Nakazato Sensei. Jim Sensei travels annually to Naha, Okinawa to train in the Humbo Dojo directly under Shugoro Nakazato Sensei and Minoru Nakazato Sensei. Jim Sensei is married to Kelly Wick, our Lil' Dragons instructor. Jim Sensei and wife Kelly have three children Zoe, Xander, and Zachary who also participate in the martial arts. Jim Sensei also owns and operates Lost Paddle Rafting at the Royal Gorge and has been guiding whitewater since 2001.

Alan Manning Sensei currently holds the rank of 2nd Dan as awarded by Shugoro Nakazato Sensei of the Humbo Dojo located in Naha, Okinawa. Alan Sensei has practiced Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Karate for over 6 years now. Alan Sensei attends Kyoshi Noujaim's Cal South International Martial Arts Camp annually to further his training in Shorinkan Karate. His love of martial arts and dedication to teaching and training is unparalleled at the Shorinkan Family Dojo.
Shodan Shorinkan Karate
Sophia Sensei has trained at the Shorinkan Family Karate Dojo for over 6 years. Sophia Sensei earned her Shodan ranking in 2015, at the age of fourteen, as awarded by Hanshi Judan Shugoro Nakazato Sensei. Through her love of karate Sophia Sensei boasts an unmatched technical prowess in Shorin-ryu Karate at the Shorinkan Family Karate Dojo and she can be seen there consistently training and teaching classes. Since earning her Shodan ranking, Sophia Sensei began her training in Traditional Okinawan Kobudo (weapons). In addition, she travels to Naha, Okinawa annually to train directly under Hanshi Judan Minoru Nakazato Sensei.
