• Set Your Goals Now!

  • I shared with you a few weeks ago in this post to start planning your goals for 2014.  Did you do it?  If not, it’s not too late.  In fact it is never too late to start setting goals.  You simply have to make a decision and get started.

Would you like 2014 to be a better year than 2013 was?  Generally for most of us, both good and bad things happen in our lives during the course of a year.  Well, I want to encourage you to not just live like a ping pong ball getting tossed around by whatever comes your way.  What I mean is, something happens and you just go with the flow and try to adjust as best you can.  Have you ever felt like that?  That is called living by default.  It is time to start living your life by design.

Did you know that you can have a big part in the things that will happen to you this coming year?  There is an old proverb that says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)  If you have a plan in place, things can be different this year.  Diligence is the key.  Diligence is defined as careful and persistent work or effort.  It can also mean the attention and care legally expected or required of a person.  It is like being in a contract and you have to do your part.

Do you want a better relationship with your spouse or your kids?  Be diligent in spending time with them and work on it.  Do you want to lose weight?  Be diligent with your exercise regimen and your eating plan.  Do you want to make more money?  Be diligent with your business.

It is simple.  Notice I said simple, not easy.  It will take effort on your part.  Set your goals, plan out how you will achieve them and then be diligent in doing what it takes to accomplish them. There will always be good and bad stuff happening in our lives, but our reaction to those things is what will determine if we can live triumphantly through them or not.  When something doesn’t go according to plan, make adjustments as necessary, but don’t let it deter you from your goal.  Remain diligent.

I hope you have an awesome Happy New Year and 2014 is the best year of your life!  No more procrastination.  No more excuses.  Set your goals NOW!
